Environmental protection, sustainability, and ecology...

The underwater world around Gangga Island is exceptionally beautiful. Despite our significant environmental impact, interventions and damage are not as severe there as in many other places worldwide. Corals and reefs are in very good condition. Even the plastic pollution is minimal.

The resort is committed to environmental protection. During my first visit in 2019, I witnessed the construction of a very large photovoltaic system. With just one sunny day, the resort can cover its entire energy needs for two days without sunshine. This includes electricity for air conditioning, water treatment, and compressors for the dive center.

The resort and the dive center have no external power supply. The generators used previously still exist, but are only needed in emergencies.

What does this mean for us?

It's up to us to consciously choose such resorts for our holidays!

Gangga Island is located in the northernmost part of North Sulawesi, northeast of the city of Manado.

Some excerpts from the video

Identifying the species of the animals isn't easy for me, as I'm not an expert. Dive guides are a great help here. Internet help is also available, but it's often difficult to find the right species.

If you find any discrepancies, please let me know. The best way is via E-Mail.

Boxfish (Lactoria fornasini)
Peacock mantis shrimp (Odontodactylus scyllarus)
Anemone shrimp
Giant frogfish (Antennarius commerson)
